D. Burdette Hann

Burdette Hann, 95, of McConnelsville, Ohio passed away peacefully at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, Ohio.

He was born April 6, 1921 in Meigsville Township, Morgan County, the youngest son of the late Harry H. and Iva Parmiter Hann.

He was a 1939 graduate of M & M High School in McConnelsville, was an honorary member of the Morgan FFA chapter, a member of the Malta United Methodist Church and was also a 75 year member of the Neelyville Grange. He was responsible for making the Grange sign which is still displayed at the Morgan County Fair.

He was a devoted dairy farmer who enjoyed working the land and seeing the bounty that it produced. He, along with his wife, raised Hampshire sheep and showed them at the Ohio State Fair as well as many county fairs with his two sons. 

Burdette met his future bride, (Dorothy Morris) during the State Field Day and Plowing Matches on August 9, 1951 at Silver Heels Farms located in Stockport, OH. They were later married on May 8, 1952. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage full of love and affection until Dorothy passed away on June 2, 2006.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Darla Hann of Delaware, Ohio and Darren and Denise Hann of McConnelsville; five grandchildren, Dr. Matthew (Caroline) Hann of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Cara (David) Crippen of Hilliard, Ohio, Deidre (Josh) Johnson of Stockport, Ohio, John Hann and Mark Hann of McConnelsville; six great grandchildren, Charlotte and Wyatt Hann of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Riley and Owen Crippen of Hilliard, Ohio and Eli and Ali Hann of McConnelsville. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald.

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday, March 28th at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, March 29th at Miller-Huck Funeral Home with Galen Finley officiating.

Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Neelyville Grange C/O Mary Gessel 819 N. Kennebec Ave., McConnelsville, OH 43756.
