Welcome to the memorial page for

Florence E. (McCormick) McInturf

March 8, 1927 ~ March 16, 2016 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Florence E. McCormick McInturf, 89, of Pennsville passed away peacefully on March 16 at Riverside Landing in McConnelsville.  She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Janis and John Tysko and grandchildren J.D., Joanna (Jason Tarnow), and Joseph Tysko, her brother and sister-in-law Chester and Dorotha McCormick and sister-in-law Dorothy (Kenneth) McInturf, and several nieces and nephews.

She was born March 8, 1927 to the late Howard and Carrie Neely McCormick in Meigsville Township.  She attended Morgan-Meigs School and graduated from McConnelsville High School in 1947.

Florence married Davis A. McInturf of Pennsville on April 12, 1951.  Florence was a homemaker, a seamstress, and an excellent cook who also loved her craft projects.  She was a founding member of the Penn Jolly Mother’s Hobby Club.  Several young Pennsville mothers started this craft club when their children started in school.  They did monthly crafts and cooked and served banquets for many years at Pennsville School, including the Lamb and Pennsville Alumni Banquets.

She was also a member of the Never Silent Club which celebrated 100 years before the club closed down in 2014. She was also a member of McKendree United Methodist Church.

Florence was a 74 year member of Pennsville and Neelyville Granges, Ohio State Grange, and the National Grange.  In addition, she was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Chesterhill for many years.

Florence’s husband, Davis, served on the Morgan County Fairboard for 40 years and 25 as Treasurer.  Florence was instrumental in helping with the Treasurer to make the fair and gates run smoothly.  She loved the fair and especially the pie auctions in the Floral Hall where her pie entries always went for top dollar.

Florence and Davis loved to travel and made many friends throughout their bus tours and travel trips.  She was proud that they had visited 46 states.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Davis of sixty-two years, and siblings; Mabel Glenn, Rachel Wortman, and Frank McCormick.
