Helen Shepard Obituary

Helen Maxine Shepard, 83, of Malta passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville. She was born August 30, 1940 in Stockport  a daughter of the late, William Theodore Hollett and Evelyn Boles Hollett. Helen worked at Malta Manufacturing for 23 years and retired in 1996. She was a  member of the Morgan County Senior Citizens Club, the Morgan County Farm Bureau, and the former Port of Morgan Boat Club. Helen also was a caretaker for the elderly and was a babysitter  for many years. She enjoyed putting puzzles together. Helen is survived by her husband of  52 plus years, Billy Shepard;  two sons, Rick (Jeri) Newberry of Malta, Roger Newberry of Jackson; a step son, Jeff (Carrie) Shepard of New Lexington; a sister, Patty Wright of Waterford;  four special grandchildren, Mike Newberry, Michelle (Josh) Burkhart, Melinda (Dustin) Pettet, and Roger Lee (Jenny) Newberry. Also surviving are several other grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Wells; a brother, Jim Hollett;  and four sisters, Sylvia Hollett, Mary Shuster, Norma Heiss, and Norwista Gregory.  Calling hours will be Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Miller-Huck Funeral Home  in McConnelsville. A funeral service will be  held Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Helen will be laid to rest in Stockport Cemetery.
