Allen B. Cornelius 87, of McConnelsville, passed away at 11:27 p.m. September 8, 2018 at his home. He was born November 26, 1930 in Brilliant, Ohio the son of the late Albert Cornelius and Emma Emfield Cornelius. He was a school teacher for Morgan Local Schools for 35 years and then was a substitute teacher for 20 years after he retired. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in McConnelsville, Army Veteran of the Korean War, member of the American Legion Post 24 of McConnelsville, VFW Post in Malta, Ohio Education Association, and the Buckeye Chapter of Rakkasana. He is survived by his widow, Wilma Maffit Cornelius whom he married October 14, 1959; daughter, Theresa (James) Sheppard of Zanesville; sons, Albert (Tani) Cornelius of Virginia Beach, Va. and Allen (Tina) Cornelius of Milbrooke, Alabama; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Cornelius. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with his son, Allen Cornelius officiating. Burial with full military honors by the American Legion Post 24 color guard will be in McConnelsville Cemetery.
