On Wednesday April 11, 2018 God called his son, Berl K. Welch, Jr. home to be with Him. He passed away at the Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. Berl was born September 5,1955 in Marietta to the late Berl Welch, Sr. and Nancy Fulton Hunt. For 24 years, Berl was a semi truck driver and saw most of the country. He was a WW II and Civil War history buff and a classic car enthusiast. Berl enjoyed working on home improvement projects and always kept busy with something. He loved playing music with his sons and family members and always had the best Christmas lights in the neighborhood. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, D. Darlene Welch; his sons, Eric (Leann) Welch of Belpre, Jeremy (Sheila) Welch of McConnelsville, Christopher (Stephanie) Welch of Caldwell, Tyler Welch of Beverly; and daughter, Genevieve (Jed) Hooper of McConnelsville. He loved and enjoyed his 7 grandchildren; Gavin, Owen, Logan, Melanie, Hamer, Allis and Haris. Also surviving are 3 sisters; Mary Jane Barnhart of Caldwell, Jeri Anne Newberry of Malta, Jackie Carroll of North Carolina; 3 brothers, Richard "Dickie" Welch of Wilkesbarre, Pa., Rick Welch of Caldwell, and Jeff Welch of Crooksville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck Welch. Calling hours will Saturday, April 14, 2108 at the Church of the Gospel Ministry in McConnelsville from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. where funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Galen Finley officiating.
