Bettie P. Bailey , 95 of McConnelsville passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 in McConnelsville. Bettie was born on March 17, 1922 in Malta, Ohio to the late John  F.  and Hazel McGrath Demster.  She was a lifelong resident of Morgan County, Ohio. She was commissioned Deputy Sheriff and worked in the Sheriff"s Office at Morgan County for 40 years serving Sheriffs; S.A. (Ab) McConnell, Don L. Bailey (her husband of 58 years), Paul Work and Jackie L. Nelson Sr.. She was a member of Main Street Church of Christ in McConnelsville, a member of Valley Chapter Order of Eastern Star #19  for over 50 years and was past Matron for two years. She was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary, Ladies Shrine of Columbus and other organizations. She is survived by a son, David L. Bailey (Pat); grandchildren, Dustin L. Bailey (Victoria) of Milford, Ohio, Darren L. Bailey (Kristina) of Leesburg, Virginia, Dawn LeaAnn Bailey-Cable (Austin) of Toronto, Ohio; and great grandchildren, Anthony Bailey, Dominic Bailey, Gage Cable, Leila Jeanne Cable, and Petrina and Gabrielle Bailey. She is also survived by a sister, Alyce Kronenbitter; sister in law, Eva Jean Glenn and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Don L. Bailey, who died August 1, 1999; sisters, Roberta Howard, Jackie Parsons, Ruth Rouse; and brother, Frank Demster. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where Eastern Star services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 :00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home with Evangelist Vernon Eldridge officiating.
