Roger Dale "Butch" Pierce, 63, of Malta passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. He was born December 9, 1956 in Zanesville to the late Dale Emerson Pierce and Betty Hart Pierce. Butch was retired from the Ohio Dept. of Transportation after 22 1/2 years of service. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp. and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #4713 of Malta. He was also a member of the McConnelsville Eagle's Club, and was a member of the American Legion Post #24 of McConnelsville and the N.R.A.. Butch was a hard worker and an excellent mechanic. He enjoyed hunting and old classic cars and hot rods. He liked spending time and visiting with his family and friends. Butch is survived by two daughters, Staci Pierce of Heath and Kelly Apperson of Malta; a son, Jason (Amanda) Pierce of Malta; six grandchildren, Baylie Apperson, Alex Houk, Kaylie Apperson, Riley Pierce, Brooklyn Pierce, and Gavin Apperson. Also surviving are six sisters, Diane Eby of New Lexington, Carolyn Moore of McConnelsville, Wanda McDaniel of Malta, Pat McCoy of Stockport, Nancy Lane and Sara Kangas both of Malta; and his dog, Sadie. Friends and family may call Friday, December 27, 2019 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Miller-Huck Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Butch will be laid to rest in Zion Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #24 Color Guard.
