Ruth E. Hopkins, 94, of McConnelsville, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2019, at The Oaks at Northpoint in Zanesville.
She was born July 28, 1924, in Morgan County, the daughter of the late Wilbur Simcox and Edna Walker Simcox.
She was a housewife and a member of the McKendree United Methodist Church, and the McKendree Methodist Womens Club, where she also taught Sunday school for many years. She was a Charter member of the Neely OCCL, Amanda Barker Devin DAR, and past regent of the local DAR.
She is survived by her children, Janet (Larry) Cordray, Jo Lynn (Andrew) Blair, James (Rhonda) Hopkins, Dean (Cathy) Hopkins, and Jerry (Beth) Hopkins; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Hopkins, who died July 12, 2012; and one brother, Dale Simcox.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, at the McKendree United Methodist Church, near McConnelsville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, with Pastor Lee Ann Dunlap officiating.
She will be laid to rest in McKendree Cemetery beside her husband.
Miller-Huck Funeral Home, in McConnelsville, is entrusted with her arrangements.
