Alice F. McElfresh 86, of McConnelsville, passed away on May 16, 2021 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. She was born August 13, 1934 in Morgan County, the daughter of the late Samuel Van Fossen and Myla E. Dugan. She was a graduate of Pennsville High School, Mt. Carmel School of Nursing with a RN Degree, worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, and for Dr. Bachman in McConnelsville. She was an Industrial Nurse and Human Resource advisor for Malta Manufacturing Co in Malta. She retired as Vice President of Human Resources of Malta Manufacturing Co., as the first female Vice President of the company. Alice was a member of the Living History Association, DAR, life member of the Carter House Association, Morgan County Historical Society, Malta United Methodist Church in Malta, and VFW Post 4713 Auxiliary in Malta. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (John) Pitman of Avon, Indiana, son, William C. (Karen Lines) McElfresh of Marietta, granddaughter, Jennifer L Gray, and one sister, Elizabeth Rhyner of Westerville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McElfresh, step mother, Myrtle Haskins Thaxton, step brother, James Haskins, and a step sister, Dorothy Price. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where services will be held at 11:00a.m. Friday with pastor Elizabeth Reed officiating. She will be laid to rest in Baptist Cemetery beside her husband. Memorial contributions may be made to the Morgan County Historical Society.
