Antoinette Irene Pratt, lovingly known as Toni, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 8th, 2025 at the age of 85, just weeks before her 86th birthday on July 21, 2025.
Toni was a woman of remarkable depth and warmth who touched countless lives through her kindness, charm, and the profound comfort she offered to everyone who crossed her path. People were naturally drawn to her nurturing presence and found solace in her understanding heart. Her infectious laughter and wicked sense of humor brought joy to everyone around her, while her genuine caring nature made others feel truly seen and loved. Her deep Catholic faith served as the foundation for a life dedicated to love, service, and spiritual growth.
Throughout her 65-year marriage to R. William "Bill" Pratt, Toni demonstrated unwavering devotion and adaptability. As Bill's career with the Social Security Administration required relocations throughout Michigan and Ohio, Toni embraced each move as an opportunity to build new communities, always making it her priority to establish herself in the local parish wherever they lived. Her faith wasn't just personal—it was the anchor that provided stability and spiritual grounding for her family through all of life's transitions.
Toni worked her whole life to support her family, beginning as a cashier and advancing to Front end manager at Krogers for many years before completing her bachelor's degree and advancing to her professional career at Abbott Labs. There, she excelled as a sales representative, where her natural ability to connect with people helped her advance to leadership roles. Her fascination with psychology and spiritual healing reflected her lifelong commitment to being her best self and helping her family grow. She believed deeply in the importance of personal development and understanding the human experience, always striving to create a nurturing environment where everyone could flourish.
Toni's creative spirit flourished in her art studio, which overflowed with supplies for her beloved card-making hobby. She poured her heart into creating handmade cards for the people she loved. Her nurturing nature extended to the many rescue dogs she welcomed into her home over the years, including Browny, Jill, Candi Mae, and many others who found love and safety in her care.
A devoted reader who always dreamed of writing a book, Toni found special meaning in the simple signs of grace around her. She believed cardinals were messengers of hope and would light up whenever they visited her yard. Her love of reading reflected her curious mind and desire to keep learning throughout her life.
Above all, Toni was a woman who loved deeply—her family, her friends, and everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on in the strong family she and Bill built together and the countless lives she touched with her warmth, wisdom, and wonderful sense of humor.
Toni is survived by her older brother Jack Balog (Sue Balog) who she had a life long relationship with and they carried on a hilarious letter writing relationship they both treasured right up till Toni’s passing.
Toni was preceded in death by her son, Timothy John Pratt.
She is survived by her husband, R. William "Bill" Pratt; her children Michelle Irene Tompkins (Gregory Dean Tompkins), Christine Judith Pratt, and William Allen Pratt (Susan Pratt); six grandchildren: Benjamin Joseph Adams, Libby Mae Pratt, Luke William Pratt, Logan Thomas Pratt, Genevieve Marie Lyons (Kyle Curtis Lyons), and Garrett Weldon Tompkins (Meghan Amanda Tompkins); and five great-grandchildren: Declan Greyson Lyons, Madison Ellie Lyons, Galen Weldon Tompkins, Piper Grace Tompkins and one on the way...which Toni predicted was a girl... A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Saint James Catholic Church in McConnelsville with Father Tim Kodak as Celebrant. Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville is entrusted with arrangements.
