Barbara Dew passed away at the age of 71 on February 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at her home. Barb is survivedby her devoted husband of 33 years, Eric Dew. She is also survived by their two children, Kelsey (Stephen) Wells and Kyle (Paige) Dew; and her three children, Chad (Valerie) Searls, Heather (Jason) Pettit, and Jeromy (Kara) Searls as well as her siblings, Duane (April) McCune and Amy (Larry) Radcliffe. Barb will also be missed by her 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Barb was born on October 1st, 1953, in Zanesville, OH to the late Carl “Bud” and Charlotte McCune. Barb lived life to the fullest and made friends with everyone. She could light up a room with her presence and everyone that knew her loved her. Barb enjoyed decorating, collecting antiques, babysitting her grandkids, cheering on Ohio State and the Cincinnati Bengals, watching HGTV, and serving others. She loved attending auctions and getting to be the socialite she was. Barb was a member of the Fairview Holiness Church and has now received her final healing from her nasty disease. She is resting in Heaven, forever, with her parents, grandparents, and Jesus.
As her daughter, who writes this with big tears in her eyes, I want everyone to know mom didn’t lose the fight. She fought valiantly with the saving knowledge of Jesus in her heart. Mom left a large hole in our hearts, but we have the eternal promise of Heaven, together.
Barb was a patient of Genesis Hospital and so enjoyed her time with the oncology nurses. Each one of them was special to her. She also spent a brief time under the care of Marietta Memorial Hospital, Dr. Cawley, and Cawley Hospice. The family would love to thank them, as well as Tammy Morrow, for their special care. Friends and family are encouraged to come to calling hours from 5-8 pm on Thursday, February 6th at Malta Bible Church. The funeral will also be at Malta Bible Church on Friday, February 7th at 11:00 am with an hour viewing before the services. Barb loved flowers, but if you would like to donate directly to Cawley Hospice and the work those saints are doing, please do so in Barb’s name. She will be laid to rest in Ark Springs Cemetery.
