David A. Copeland

 On March 4, 2023 the Lord called his servant, David A. Copeland, 68, of Malta home. Known as Dave, he was a  member of the First Baptist Church of Malta. Dave was a graduate of  Morgan High School Class of 1972. He had a love of sports and supported all Morgan Sports Associations. In May of 1973, Dave left his hometown of Malta to serve the country he loved in the U. S. Air Force and Air National Guard. During his 22 years of service, he worked his way through the ranks and was an E 7 before retiring in 1995. Once returning to his hometown, Dave continued to serve his community by serving 2 terms on the Morgan County School Board. He also volunteered as a coach for little league and continued to support all sports for Morgan County children. Dave continued to serve his community as an active church member. Along with his son Dennis and farmhand Zack Racer Dave enjoyed working on the family farm where they raised beef cattle and hay. He loved all things outdoors including golfing with his son David and hunting. Dave is survived by by his mother Eleanor Parsons Copeland of Malta, his wife of  45 years Donna Harper Copeland of Malta, sons Dave (Anna) Copeland of N.C. and Dennis (Carolyn) Copeland of Malta, grandchildren Molena, Zack, Adam, Charlie, George, Maddie, and Randy. Also surviving are 2 brothers Buck (Lynn) Copeland and Mike (Jean) Copeland of Malta and numerous nieces, nephews and his faithful dog Frankie. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Richard "Dick" Copeland and grandson Robert W. Copeland. Friends and family may call Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville. A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Malta Bible Church with Pastors Cy Copeland and Tony Pettet officiating. He will be laid to rest in Gillespie Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #24 Color Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Malta.
