Donald Jefferson Aber, formerly of Malta, Ohio went to be with Our Lord and Savior on June 2, 2022 in Zanesville, Ohio. He was born on February 6, 1932 in McConnelsville, Ohio.
Don was a retired United Mine Worker from Central Ohio Coal after 38 years of service. During his time there he had been a Laborer, Driller, Dozer Operator, and an Oiler, including time on The Big Muskie Dragline. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
He was a member of Malta United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 24, McConnelsville, Ohio.
Don loved their home in Malta on State Road 37 and his life in Morgan County.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Sarah Morris Aber, his parents Joseph Aber and Zeola Gessel Aber; his sisters Betty Loar; Mary Belleville, husband Robert; Joe Aber Jr.; Pat Smith; Twin brother Dan and his wife Dorothy and brother-in-law Hudnall Skip Lewis.
He is survived by his sisters Jennifer Lewis of Zanesville and Janet Wheeler of Alabama; sister-in-law Dorothy Aber of Piqua, Ohio, (husband Joe); and brother-in-law Roba Smith (wife Pat of McConnelsville.)
His son Tracey Aber, wife Jenny Hall Aber, of Kokomo, Indiana, their daughter Ashley Perkins, husband Cole and their children Noa and Emma; daughter Danielle O’Donohue and her children Adalyn and Beau; son Blake Aber and his fiancé Emily Frost.
His son Donald Michael Aber of Muncie, and Diane Ellis of Indianapolis, Indiana, his son Joshua Aber and his wife Nikki and their young men Collin and Caleb. Mike’s daughter Alyssa Yancey, her husband Steven and their boys Everett and Jase. Mike’s Stepdaughter Cheryl and Tyler Crabtree and their daughter Emma; and Stepdaughter Samantha Tolbert.
His son Kelly Aber and his wife Barbara Rainer Aber of Zanesville and their daughter Jennifer Benjamin and her children Tailor, Gunner and Marshall; Son Eric Benjamin and his daughter Zoey; and daughter Sarah of the home.
Viewing hours will be from 12:00 to 2:00 on Sunday, June 5th at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, where funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm with Military Honors and Graveside Services immediately following in McConnelsville Cemetery.
