Edith Wilson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, her 97th birthday, in Marietta.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances (Hughes) Ross, and by all six siblings; Mary Elizabeth, George, Philip, David, twin sister Judith, and Lyra.
Edie was born June, 27, 1926 in McConnelsville and graduated from M&M High School in 1944. She was strong, independent, and fiercely patriotic gal, who retired after many years as a bus driver for Marietta schools.
Lovingly remembered by her daughter, Martha (John) Weinheimer of Grove City, Ohio, only and “favorite” granddaughter Brynn (Tom) Searles, and great-grandchildren Xander and Violet Searles of Indiana.
She is also survived by son, David Wilson, of Marietta, and many wonderful nieces and nephews that she adored. Special thanks to Donna, Sherry, Jim, Joyce, and John for their friendship and care and support over the last years of her illnesses.
One of her favorite childhood memories was of racing with her brothers and sisters, barefoot, across the field behind their home in Malta, from the back porch to the cabin in the woods as fast as she could. She would look down, and her feet would seemed to be flying- hardly touching the ground. Now, Mom, you can truly soar!
Visitation Sunday July 2nd from 1-2 pm at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelville and 2pm graveside service with Galen Finley officiating at Malta Union Cemetery.
