Elizabeth S. Hemkes 86, of McConnelsville, passed away at 6:40 p.m. September 16, 2019 at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta. She was born July 31, 1933 in Syracuse, New York a daughter of the late Harold Hatch and May Bayliss Hatch. She was a retired teacher and worked for North Syracuse Central Schools where she taught German for 30 years, and she was active in AATG and NYSAFLT. She is survived by her daughter, Norvel Crandall of McConnelsville; four grandchildren, Harold Crandall of Pa., Aaron Crandall of Ohio, Stuart and Jacob Crandall both of Florida; one great grandchild, Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Sanford Hatch; a son in law, Randy Crandall; and a grandson, Samuel Crandall. At her request, a caring cremation will take place.
