Gordon E. Clawson

Gordon E. Clawson, 68, of Malta passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the Genesis Hospital in Zanesville surrounded by his wife and children. He was born February 14, 1955 in Marietta a son of the late, Richard Clawson and Martha Thompson Clawson. Gordon was a graduate of the American School in 1974. Through the 80's and 90's he owned and operated C & C Utility. After that he moved on to working as an equipment operator for Tri-State Drilling of Hamel, MN for 16 years where he retired. Most recently he worked as a truck driver for Ohio Hardwoods of McConnelsville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Malta where he was the church coordinator, handyman and musician. He enjoyed farming, hauling stone and took great pride in spreading stone and excavating for people all over southeast Ohio. Gordon also loved playing music and storytelling. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Angela Fouts Clawson; two daughters, Jessica Brown of Mt. Vernon, Crystal (Rob) Levan of Stockport; three sons, Matthew Clawson and Lindsay Russell of Mt. Vernon, Caleb (Lindsey) Clawson of Malta, Casey (Janetta) Clawson of Malta; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and his faithful companion and sidekick, Daisy. Also surviving is a sister, Brenda Clawson of Colorado; two brothers, Michael and John Clawson both of Colorado. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Clawson; and three brothers, Ricky, Jeffrey, and Nathan Clawson. Friends and family may call 5-8 p.m. Friday June 16, 2023 and 10-11 a.m. Saturday June 17, 2023 at the Malta Bible Church in Malta. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Gordon will be laid to rest in Deerfield Cemetery. Miller-Huck Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
