Hayward “Rabbit” Goins

1922 ~ 2018 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Hayward Goins Obituary

Hayward "Rabbit" Goins, 96, of Malta passed away peacefully at home on the 1st of December 2018. He was born May 13, 1922 in Morgan County, a son of the late Sherman and Olive "Ollie" Mayle-Goins and was a founding member of the Malta Baptist Holiness Church also known as "Boxer Norman's Church". He was joined in holy matrimony to his loving wife, Thelma Maxine "Mackie"  Norris on July 21, 1941. For nearly 40 years he owned and operated one of the largest masonry construction companies in Morgan County, Goins Construction, all the while maintaining a full working farm even upon retirement. However, his faith and devotion to his family and church always remained his first priorities. He leaves behind, to honor his memory, five children: Jerry (Nina) Goins, Delores Nichols, Roger (Mary) Goins, Cynthia McMullen, all of Malta and Kathy Stevens of McConnelsville; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 33 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All of whom loved him dearly and will never forget his devotion and love for his family including a loving church family whom he cared for dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Thelma  Maxine "Mackie" Norris-Goins, one son Chester "Chet" Goins; two granddaughters ; Elizabeth Stevens and Susan Norman; one grandson Reginald "Reggie" Nichols; eight brothers ; Russell, Lyle, George, Dean, Lovell, Willmore, Carlos, and Carroll Goins; and two sisters Helen and Alice Goins. Friends will be received from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home. A funeral service will held Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Brother Terry Newman and Brother Ronnie Justice officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Thelma in Malta Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Malta Baptist Holiness Church, c/o Barbara Mayle 7815 Crews LaneChesterhill, Ohio 43728.
