Helen Leota Casto, 92, of Malta, Ohio, passed away on March 5, 2025. She was born on May 23, 1932, in
Nitro, West Virginia, Kanawha County, to Lewis Estill and Bertie Marie Mason Null.
Leota is survived by her daughter, Anita (Clyde) Williams, and her son, Gary (Brenda) Casto. She
was a loving grandmother to Heather Williams, Heath (Laura) Williams of McConnelsville, Ohio,
Nathan (Candace) Casto, and Dustin (Heather) Casto of Stockport, Ohio, as well as Brad Collins of
Racine, Ohio, and Jimmy Harris of Zanesville, Ohio. She was also blessed with 13
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Casto, her brothers Jim, Buck, and
J.R., her sisters Mae, Ruby, Ann, and Mary Lou. She was also preceded in death by her daughter
Carolyn Scott and grandchildren, Bryan Lucas Williams, Karen Ann Collins, and Billy Harris.
Leota was a devoted member of Malta Methodist Church, the Mary Ruth Circle, and the Anna Wolfe
Mothers Club. She was actively involved in the Democratic Central Committee, the Democratic
Club, and the Morgan County Lady Shriners, where she served as a past president. She was also a
member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of Columbus, a member of the National Wild Turkey
Federation, and a life member of the National Home Garden Club. Additionally, she served as a
Brownie leader and 4-H leader for ten years.
Leota had a passion for hunting, quilting, and gardening. She found joy in the outdoors and took
great pride in her family and community.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her grandson’s scholarship, the Bryan Lucas Williams
Memorial Scholarship, in care of Peoples Bank, McConnelsville, Ohio.
Leota will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, with services to be held at 3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in
McConnelsville Cemetery.
