Herbert Clinton (Sam) Myers, 81 of Stockport passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville. He was born on February 11, 1940 in Pinch, West Virginia to Bernest Myers and Ethel Parish Myers (Oiler). Sam was retired from Central Ohio Coal Company after 30 years. Prior to that he was employed by Bucyrus Erie during the construction of the famous Big Muskie dragline. He was a Village Council Member of Stockport for several years then he served six years as Mayor of Stockport. He was a member of UMW Local 1604 and served on the bargaining committee as well as the Ways and Means Committee for the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the UMW. Sam was a long time member of the Stockport Volunteer Fire Dept. and was a former assistant chief. He is a former member of the Webb Lodge #252 in Stockport where he obtained the rank of 33rd Degree of Scottish Rite Freemasons. Sam was married on June 23, 1958 to Deanna Kay Radcliff, who survives. Also surviving are children, Toni (Kevin) Ross and Robert (Lynne) Myers of Stockport; son in law, Dan Keffer of Malta; grandchildren, Jeremy (Janelle) Keffer, Joe (Haley) Keffer, Sarah (Tommy Apperson) Keffer, Andrea Spears, Clinton (Chandler) Myers, and Randi Myers; 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step fathers, Delmar Cunningham and Robert Oiler; sisters, Joanna West and Ada Hosom; a daughter, Lori Keffer. Friends may call Monday, November 15, 2021 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville from 5 to 7 p.m.. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Sam will be laid to rest in Stockport Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriver’s Hospice.
