James M. Ray, Jr., 71, of McConnelsville and formerly of Minnesota passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born July 10, 1948 in Alexandria, Minnesota to the late James Ray, Sr. and Frances Kramer Ray Bush. James was retired from the U. S. Postal Service and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife of nine years, Susan Schwab Ray of the home; a son, James (Tracy) Brown of Woodbury, MN.; step daughters, Kim Vaughn, Kathleen Vaughn and Joe Wood; step sons, Wes (Kellie) Vaughn, Brian (Michaela) Vaughn, and Brad Vaughn; six grandchildren, Kalie Brown, Missy Vaughn, Abigail Vaughn, Joseph Vaughn, Ayden Vaughn, and Edward Vaughn. Also surviving are two sisters, Frances "Pixy" Roen and Colleen (Pete) Thorsen; two brothers, Robert (Melinda) Ray and David (Kim) Bush. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, William Bush; and a sister, Marsha Ray Horgen. Friends may call Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 12-2 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Galen Finley officiating. James will be laid to rest in Chesterhill Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #24 Color Guard.
