John D. Cassady, 89, of Malta passed away in Dunedin, Florida on February 20, 2022 with his best buddy "Mack" by his side. He was born July 13, 1932 in Bexley, Ohio. He was a Korean War Wounded Veteran who proudly served his country. John was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his heroic service. He retired from Timken Roller Bearing Com. in Columbus after 36 years. He is survived by his brother, Dean (Juanita) Cassady of Gahanna; his girls, Rhonda (John Payne) Smith of Florida, Christine (Larry) Manter of Columbus, Brenda (Paul) Lamblin of Portsmouth and Linda Sluss of New Plymouth. His grandsons, John (Angel) Johnson, James (Katrina) Manter, Larry (Misty) Manter Jr., Rocky (Emily) Manter and Ricky (Jennifer) Sluss. His only granddaughter, Ashley Marie Uber. Sixteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren and many close considered family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, David and Freda Antle Cassady; his brother, Stanley Cassady; his first wife, Alverda Cassady with whom they had three sons. His beloved wife of 25 years, Freda E. Cassady; and son-in-law, Vernon Smith Jr. Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 11-1 p.m. at Miller-Huck Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Galen Finley officiating.
