John William "Bill" Clifton, 82, of McConnelsville passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville. He was born May 9, 1939 in Muskingum County to the late, Walter Clifton and Alice Kildow Clifton. Bill was the owner of the former Union 76 Service Station in McConnelsville for many years and was a member of the Seventh Street Church of Christ in McConnelsville. He was also formerly employed with the Morgan County Highway Dept. as a mechanic. Bill is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Bill) Barnes and Rita (Doug) Riley all of McConnelsville; a son, John (Diane) Clifton of McConnelsville; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie L. Clifton; a sister, Neta Clifton; and two brothers, Walter Eugene and Lyle Clifton. A graveside service will be held Monday, December 6, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Pastor Trevor Gilliland officiating.
