Katherine ”Lucille” (Snyder) Best

Katherine “ Lucille” Snyder Best of Pennsville, Ohio passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, March 23, 2025. She was born August 15, 1927 in Wooster, OH to the late William R.  and Helen M. Snyder. Her family moved to Marion Township near Chesterhill in the 1940’s where Lucille graduated from Marion High School. She married her husband of 44 years, Harold Dean Best on October 5,1953. They spent most of their life living and working on the family farm in Penn township together. In addition to her parents, and beloved husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorthy; her brothers, William and Robert; and two nephews, Steve Hartley and Jeff Best. In 1966 Lucille could be seen serving customers behind the teller window of the Malta National Bank where she dedicated  many years of service to the banking industry. 

She was known by many as Aunt Lucy, she touched the lives of numerous nieces and nephews where she could often be found laying on the floor playing along with them. Left cherishing her memory are nieces, Terri Best White, Cheryl Hartley Lange, Beth Best Kutscherenko and Juliet Snyder Stuessel; along with nephews, Tim, Steve, and Brian Best, and William, John and David Snyder. The list of great and great-great nieces and nephews is lengthy and she will be dearly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Miller Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville with Pastor Joe Rowland officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service.  She will be laid to rest in Malta Cemetery beside her husband.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Morgan Agricultural Society instead of flowers.
