Larry Ray Smith, 73, of McConnelsville passed away Friday, April 3, 2026 at his home. He was born May 12, 1952 in Zanesville a son of the late, Leo Smith and Florence Brown Smith. Larry graduated from Morgan High School in 1970 and joined the U. S. Army directly out of high school. He served until 1974. Larry was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt mushrooms and ginseng. He enjoyed fishing, country music, ramps, Budweiser, lobster and crab legs. He was a big fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Morgan Raiders. Larry worked at various places including Malta Man., Powhatten Point Coal Miners, Johnson Boat Man., and retired from Dollar General. Larry is survived by three sisters, Sherry Hill, Debbie Smith, and Cathy Robinson; five brothers, Donald Smith, Richard "Dick" Smith, Gary Smith, Bill Smith, and Jeff Smith. Also surviving are uncles, Eugene Smith and Bill Brown; many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Smith and a brother, Marty Joe Smith. Larry was an easy going, fun loving, caring person who truly loved his family and friends. A celebration of life service for Larry will be held May 12, 2026 at 5 p.m., at the V.F.W. In Malta. Memorial contributions may be made to Miller-Huck Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
