Mary Elizabeth Van Horn, 97, of McConnelsville, formerly of Chesterhill passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsvile. She was born October 7, 1923 in Morgan County to the late Charles Reed and Lesta Robb Reed. Mary was retired from Ohio University where she worked as a line supervisor in food service for many years. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Morgan County Garden Club. Mary was a lifelong member of the Morgan County Farm Bureau and was an associate member of the Morgan County Township Trustees Assocation. She also volunteered for many years at the Chesterhill Produce Auction and enjoyed quilting her entire life. Mary liked to play bingo with her friends at Highland Oaks. She is survived by two sons, Richard (Mary Ellen) Van Horn of Chesterhill and Jay Van Horn of Marietta; six grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Also surviving is a special friend, Patty Jean Fluharty of McConneslville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Van Horn; a sister, Virginia Reed Newsom Hafhill; a brother, Wayne Reed and a grandchild. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 12-1 p.m. at Miller-Huck Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with pastor Galen Finley officiating. Mary will be laid to rest beside her husband in McConnelsville Cemetery.
