Masel M. Johnson, 90, of McConnelsville passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born June 27, 1932 in Lowell, Ohio a daughter of the late Okey McKown and Hazel Nichols McKown. Masel worked as the fiscal officer for Meigsville Township in Morgan County for over 30 years. She was a member of the O.E.S. Valley Chapter #19 of McConnelsville, the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, and the American Legion Post #389 of Beverly. She was also a member of the Neelysville Grange. Masel loved people, shopping, and traveling. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Peggy (Philip) Shiflett of Marietta; two sons, Robert (Mary Ellen) Johnson of Moberly, MO, and David (Carma) Johnson of McConnelsville; seven grandchildren, Matthew Clawson, Eric Johnson, Brian Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Josie Pasco, Jack Johnson; two step grandchildren, Tori Parsons, Dari Bragg; and several great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Norma Forrest of Waterford; and a brother, Neil McKown of Beverly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Johnson; a sister, Betty Perdew; and three brothers, Edward, Richard, and Dale McKown. Calling hours will be Monday, November 21, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. at the Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Walter Jones officiating. Masel will be laid to rest beside her husband Phillip in the Meigsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the M. & M. Fire Dept. & EMS.
