Melvin O. Hickerson, 96, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023 at his residence. He was born September 29, 1927 in Pennsville, Ohio to the late Errett Braden and Ada Maude Bankes Hickerson. He was a member of the Seventh Street Church of Christ in McConnelsville. Melvin was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict, 1952 - 1953. He is survived by his daughter, Janice (Tim) Riley; son, Todd (Linda) Hickerson; and daughter in law, Mary Beth Hickerson; six grandchildren, Clinton (Ciara) Riley, Abby (Landon) Cole, Andrew (Stephanie) Hickerson, Tyler (Emily) Hickerson, Adam (Kennedy) Hickerson and Rachel Hickerson; seven great grandchildren, Jozi Brown, Raegen and Bryar Riley, Brenna and Paige Cole, Hayden and Madelyn Hickerson; Special niece, Bonnie (Jim) Wilson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jessie; son, Mel and his brothers, Marion, David, Elton, Sherman; and sister, Wilma Morrow. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville where services will follow with Dan Hickerson officiating.
Melvin will be laid to rest in the Malta Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #24 Color Guard.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seventh Street Church of Christ or the M&M Fire Department in McConnelsville .
