Rex W. Sheets, 72, of McConnelsville passed away June 17, 2026 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born March 31, 1954 in Greenville, TN., a son of the late, Chelsia Sheets and Ruby Norton Sheets. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years and worked at Taylor Woodcraft from 1976-1980. He then worked for 31 years for the U. S. Postal Service. He also worked for Morgan County Transit for several years. Rex attended the 5th Street Church of Christ in Beverly. He enjoyed watching T V, computers, playing golf and bowling. He was a big Pittsburg Steelers fan. Rex was best known for his humor and ability to make people laugh. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan Moore Sheets; a daughter, Melinda (Rodney) Paige of McConnelsville; a son, Tim (Jessicah) Sheets of Waterford; five grandchildren, Hayden (Madison), Alexis, Meryan, Raeanna, and Kady. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Dale Sheets and Ronald Sheets. Calling hours will be Monday, June 22, 2026 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., at the McKendree Church. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., with Pastor Rob Tuttle officiating. Rex will be laid to rest in McKendree Cemetery with military honors. Miller-Huck Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
