Robert D. Carnes, Sr., 92, of McConnelsville passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at his home. He was born January 21, 1930 in Columbus to the late, Samuel Wilmot Carnes and Vera Triplett Carnes. He was retired from Central Ohio Coal Company and served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post # 24 of McConnelsville and was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. He was also a member of the V.F.W., the 40 & 8, and the Local 1604 United Mine Workers Union. Robert is survived by two sons, Michael Allen Carnes and Robert D. Carnes, Jr.; two daughters, Teresa Carnes and Lisa Peyton; two grandsons, Jack and Derek Carnes; two granddaughters, Alysha Swiney and Amya Carnes; nine great grandchildren, Camryn, Cali, Jackson, Dylan, Cutler, Crew, William, Ariah, and Avery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances D. Carnes. Calling hours will be Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at Miller-Huck Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Meigs Cemetery with Pastor Galen Finley officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #24 Honor Guard.
