Sally Richmond Obituary

Sally Anne Fenwick Richmond
Heaven flung its doors wide open as a legion of Angels escorted Sally Anne (Fenwick) Richmond to Heaven on November 12th, 2021.  She was surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her own home. Sally was born on March 2nd, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to Anne Elizabeth (Buschman) and Robert R. Fenwick.  Raised on a farm in Geauga County, Ohio she loved 4-H projects, cooking and sewing, as well as showing holstein cows and helping in the Sugar Bush making maple syrup. Her height attributed to a love of basketball throughout her high school years.   She graduated from Chardon High School in 1952 and attended The Ohio Wesleyan University from 1952-1956 graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  She was also a member of Alpha XI Delta Sorority.
A few weeks later, on June 23,1956 Sally married Robert Nelson “Doc" Richmond.
In April 1961, they moved to Morgan County, Ohio.   Sally taught at Malta Elementary Grade School in the early years and then became the Springbrook Veterinary Hospital’s "right-hand everything” where she joined her husband, “Doc”, at the hip and together they built their successful veterinary practice. Sally was always the voice on the other end of the phone when someone would call out to the vet office for this or that.
In 2013, after 53 years of dog-holding, animal vaccinating, poodle trimming, record keeping, kitty-litter swashbuckling, and phone-answering, she gracefully retired along side “Doc” at the age of 79. The family would love to thank Stacey Clemens George for being their steady, trusted, “all-in” employee for 27 of those years.
Sally was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of McConnelsville where she served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Elder, and for 60 years sang alto in the choir.
Sally was active in both the Mother’s Club and the New Era Club enjoying friendships and activities.  She was a member of the Lady Shriners, and enjoyed volunteering at the Button House museum, folding quilts and welcoming guests. She also loved volunteering for the Two Bridges Program with Doc as students had fun painting Sally’s fingernails every kind of color.
And she loved hosting and participating in their neighborhood Card Club, playing euchre once a month for over 40 years.
In addition to her own activities, Sally supported every single project her husband “Doc” was involved in as his executive assistant and secretary extraordinaire.
She is survived by her sister Judy (Fenwick) Irvin (Wooster, OH), daughters Diana (Stanley) Markus (Oconomowoc, WI), Patty (Bill) Glaze (Zanesville, OH), and Bonnie (William) Burckel (Colorado Springs, CO), nine grandchildren, Jayme Markus (Chicago, IL), Charlie Markus (Pasadena CA), Victor Markus (Baltimore, MD), Emma Glaze (Columbus, OH), Kara Glaze (Athens, OH), William Burckel (Bremerton, WA), Jessica Burckel (Matthew) Balderston, (Midland, TX), Benjamin Burckel (Seattle, WA), and Joseph Burckel (Toledo, OH).  Niece Amy Line (Malta, OH), nephew John Line (Bartlesville,OK), Nieces Tracy (Irvin) Fanning (Columbus, OH) and Kymberly deBeauclair (Miami, FL), nephews Randy deBeauclair (Brighton, MI) and Robb deBeauclair (Howell, MI).
In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Robert “Doc” Nelson Richmond and sister, Janet (Fenwick) deBeauclair.  Due to the closeness of her passing to her husband, Bob on October 27, 2021 the family is spreading the word that dad must not have been able to get anything done in Heaven without mom by his side.  He was in need of assistance by his soulmate so God called her Home.
Calling hours will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of McConnelsville at 183 East Liberty Avenue, McConnelsville 43756, from 3pm-5pm on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 with the Celebration of Life immediately following.
Sally will be laid to rest at the First Congregational Church of Claridon, Geauga County, OH, where she and Doc were married sixty-five years ago this past June. A graveside service for family and close friends will be held on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, at 1pm.

Thank you to niece Amy, instrumental during the last 5 years as a trusted in-home  companion and caregiver.  And once again and for always, the family wishes to express the most sincere and heartfelt thank you to the people of  Morgan County for their love and support and especially to our three wonderful, full-hearted caregivers who made mom’s last months with dementia as best as they could have been.
