Sally Jean (Kangas) Woodard

On May 17, 2023, surrounded by family, Sally Jean Woodard, 86 of Malta went to be with her savior. She was born July 27, 1936 in Santoy, Ohio the daughter of the late Charles Richard Kangas and Wanda Bridget Kangas. She graduated from McLuney School as Salutatorian and took a job at Finley Packing Plant where she met the love of her life Freddy Woodard.  The two would start a whirlwind romance that would last over 60 years, producing 6 children, 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. After raising her children, she worked 25 years as a cook for Morgan Local Schools retiring in 1998 and spent her remaining years on the family farm outside Malta. She enjoyed trips to Sugar Creek and baking her famous homemade cinnamon rolls. She was preceded in death by husband, Freddy Woodard and her parents. She is survived by her sister Keitha (Dan) Hurst, brother Charles (Barbara) Kangas, brother David (Patty) Kangas, sister Mary (Lynn) Bell; sister Becky Pettet,five daughters Jane (Mike) Palmer, Jean (Mike) Copeland, Jodie (Jerry) Finley, Joyce (Brent) Apperson, all of Malta, Jackie Agey of Mebane, North Carolina and a son Fred (Jodi Ashton) of Blue Rock.  

Calling hours will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2023 at the Malta Bible Church in Malta, where services will be held at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Dale Darrofficiating. Burial with follow at Zion Cemetery in Portersville. Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville is entrusted with arrangements.
