Shawn L. Lobaugh, 59, of McConnelsville passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025 at the Riverside Landing Care Center after a mercifully short battle with a very aggressive cancer. He was born in Placerville, California on February 23, 1966 to the late, Jack and Regina Lobaugh (Goodman). Shawn spent most of his early years in the small town of Sonora, where he learned to fight wildland fires with the California Conservation Corp, and worked seasonally at Yosemite National Park. Shawn made his way to Newark, Ohio in the mid-90s after splitting with the mother of his only child, a son, Xavier, who now lives in Florida. While in Newark Shawn worked at Fix-Core. He had an active social life and loved attending concerts at Legend Valley. A tragic brain injury at the age of 49 left Shawn unable to take care for himself and he has been at Riverside Landing ever since. In addition to his son, Shawn is survived by his sister, Shannon Priest of Stockport; brother, Brian Lobaugh of Zanesville; two nieces, Chelsea, and Ashley; as well as two nephews, Connor and Brian Jr. At his request, no services will be held and cremation will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Riverside Landing Nursing & Rehab Center patients activities fund. Miller-Huck Funeral Home in is charge of the arrangements.
