Susan Evans Obituary

Susan Diane Evans, 70, of Malta, Ohio, passed away on October 23, 2023 in Wakeman, Ohio after a three year battle with cancer. She was born on January 24, 1953, in Zanesville, Ohio.

Susan was a caring and loving woman known for her social nature and strong love of Jesus. 

She dedicated her life to being a homemaker and providing a loving and nurturing environment for her family. 

Susan was a 1971 graduate of Morgan High School and went on to earn a master's degree in music from Ohio University. Her passion for music and helping others was evident in her work.  She also served as an activities director and caregiver to Alzheimer and dementia patients for some years bringing joy and support to those she cared for.

Susan was a member of Cornerstone South Family Life Church, where she took solace and found strength in her unwavering Faith. She cherished the time time spent studying and worshiping with her church community.

In her free time Susan enjoyed gardening and nature, playing and teaching piano, meeting up with friends, and attending church gatherings. These hobbies and interests brought her joy and allowed her to connect with others.

Susan is survived by her two children, Leah (Alex) Szarka and Micah (Shonna)

Manes; eight grandchildren, McKenzie, Taylor, MJ, and Mason Manes; Camron Murphy; Gabriel, Emeric, and Adaline Szarka; her sister, Karen (Ed Junn); and her brothers, Richard (Jenny), Chris, and David Hilaman; nephews Hiram (Jenny), Adam, Elliot (Ines) and nieces Sierra, Alaina, and Kyle Ann; nephew, Parker.  She also leaves behind many dear and beloved friends who will miss her dearly.  Susan was preceded in death by her mother and father, Lila 'Jeanette’ and Theodore ‘Ted’ Hilaman, and her sister, Sharon Davis.

 

A memorial service to celebrate Susan's life will be held at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, Ohio on Saturday, November 11, from 12-2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the GoFundMe page in Susan's honor.

 

Susan Diane Evans will be cherished as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her caring nature, dedication to the people in her life, and her unwavering Faith will surly be remembered by those she leaves behind.
