Thomas Paul Charles 78, of Pennsviile, passed away September 19, 2021 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville. He was born February 17, 1943 in Grundy, Virginia the son of the late Claude and Ruth Shull Charles. Tom served as a deacon for 20 years at the Pennsville Church of Christ. He was a Marine E5 Sgt during Cuba Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. Tom worked for American Electric Power as substation mechanic and was the sole proprietor of Charles Electric. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of 55 years; a son, John Charles (Leslie) of McConnelsville; a daughter, Julie Leopold (Troy) of Pennsville; four grandchildren, Dillon, Harley, Devin Leopold and Lexie Charles; a brother, Mickey Charles of Granville, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Danny, Jim and Ronnie Charles. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Miller-Huck Funeral Home in McConnelsville, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Dan Hickerson officiating. He will be laid to rest in Pennsville Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 24 Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pennsville Church of Christ.
